Economic Growth by Usage of Cultural Heritage

Culturally and historically the Danube Region is highly interesting. At the day of culture in Bucharest all agreed: This heritage is a valuable economic factor. The EU Danube Strategy forms the right framework for long-term projects. While people talk about the missing funds for Danube Strategy, Romania has several billions to use left from the funding period 2007-2014. The ambition of the day of culture was to bring together important players. A suitable frame for the dialog between culture, science and economics was given by the venue, the House of the Danube in Bucharest.

The keynote speakers of the event:

  •  Puiu Hasotti, minister of culture and national heritage
  •  Luminita Odobescu, undersecretary of state in foreign ministry
  •  Razavan Theodorescu, president of the art and architecture department of the
     Academy of Science
  •  Peter Langer, general coordinator of the Council of Danube Cities and
     Regions
  •  Prof. Heinz Trasch, management of the Danube Council of Competiveness
     and Innovation

The participants of the day of culture came together from Germany, Bulgaria, Austria, Romania, Serbia, Hungary and Ukraine. Principal organizer was the Council of Danube Cities and Regions, a close partner of our Danube Center. SDC-director was one of the attendants. For the first time the Danube Cultural Alliance was introduced. As a part of the Danube Alliance it deals with cultural projects in the broadest sense. Thematically sections form the Danube Cultural Alliance: Danube Arts Council, Danube Creative Cities, Danube Heritage and Danube Culture.
